Measurement Principle
Faraday's law of induction states that when a conductor moves in a magnetic field it induces electrical voltage. When electrically charged particles in the fluid pass through the magnetic field generated by two coils in the sensor body, an electrical voltage is induced that is captured by two measuring electrodes, which is directly proportional to the speed of the flow and, therefore, hence the volume of the flow.
