Flow, whether volumetric or mass, is one of the most measured variables in industrial processes. Water, natural gas, steam, oil, chemicals, and wastewater are just a few examples of the different liquids or gases that are measured on a daily basis. As there is no universal technology suitable for all of these applications, we offer you the support to choose the right tecnology and sizing.
Thermal Mass Flowmeters
Measurement Principle
A thermal flowmeter contains two PT100 temperature sensors. One sensor measures the current temperature of the fluid for reference. The second sensor heats up and has a constant temperature differential relative to the first sensor at "zero flow". As the fluid moves in the measuring tube, the hot temperature sensor cools down due to the fluid. The higher the flow rate, the greater the cooling effect. The electric current required to maintain the temperature differential is therefore a direct measure of the mass flow.
ADVANTAGES
Multivariate - direct measurement of mass flow and fluid temperature
Does not require pressure or temperature compensation
Nominal sizes available DN15 to DN1500 (1/2 to 60”), -40 to 130 ° C
Measurement accuracy from ± 1% to ± 5% depending on version
Excellent sensitivity to low ranges and to flow fluctuations
Negligible pressure loss
Maintenance free, no moving parts
