Flow, whether volumetric or mass, is one of the most measured variables in industrial processes. Water, natural gas, steam, oil, chemicals, and wastewater are just a few examples of the different liquids or gases that are measured on a daily basis. As there is no universal technology suitable for all of these applications, we offer you the support to choose the right tecnology and sizing.
Ultrasonic Flowmeters
Measurement Principle
This method uses two sensors, positioned facing each other on the measuring tube. Each sensor can alternately transmit and receive ultrasonic signals, while simultaneously measuring the transit time of the signal. As soon as the fluid in the tube begins to flow, the signals accelerate in the direction of the flow but are delayed in the opposite direction. The differential transit time, measured by the two sensors, is directly proportional to the flow rate.
ADVANTAGES
Independent measurement of pressure, density, temperature, conductivity and viscosity (for homogeneous fluids)
Free pipe section, without pressure loss, clamp-on version available with installation external to the pipeline without process interruption
No moving parts, minimal maintenance and cost of ownership
Measurement accuracy from ± 0.3% to ± 2% depending on version
Nominal sizes available DN15 to DN4000 (1/2 to 160”), -40 to 200 ° C
Long service life, no abrasion or corrosion of the fluid in external mounting version
In-line or clamp-on design for stationary or temporary flow measurements
