What are fugitive emissions?

They are emissions that are released through events such as leaks, spills and evaporation and are regularly not planned (with uncontrolled operations), difficult to detect, quantify and control and have an internal and external impact.

These can be originated through pipe connections, through valves or in pressure-subject process equipment that is talked about in a timely manner of these four points:

  1. Wear and tear causes breakage and leakage
  2. Operating conditions
  3. There is a poorly sealed in the equipment
  4. Chemical wear

 

Why talk about fugitive emissions?

When we keep in mind fugitive emissions, we talk about consequences that can cause serious risks to the health of workers (toxic, flammable and even carcinogenic), environmental (high impact leaks) and economic losses in theirplant.
